Net Chart Japan Launches P3EG®︎ to Simplify IoT Integration and Ensuring

Data Integrity Assurance

-- A managed edge gateway that connects diverse sensors and servers, while ensuring high data reliability with the “Data SLA® --

TOKYO - February 24, 2026 –Net Chart Japan Inc. (President and CEO: Kazuhiro Kusumoto, hereafter referred to as NCJ), a 100% subsidiary of Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ) today announced the development and immediate availability of P3EG®︎ (Profile Programmable Proxy Edge computing Gateway), a managed edge gateway service that converts data from IoT sensors operating on diverse communication protocols into the formats required by servers. The service enables flexible IoT system configuration and provides high data reliability through its original “Data SLA®.”
This service is the world’s first* IoT service to expand SLA (Service Level Agreement) coverage from the conventional system availability to data delivery rate, the real value.
*Based on NCJ investigations as of February 24, 2026.

Background to the development

In many different fields, IoT edge computing is increasingly being turned to for problem solving and value creation, including use of various sensing data for more advanced operational management or data analysis. When it comes to provisioning an actual IoT system, however, there are several hurdles to overcome. Among them are the need to support different communication protocols and data formats for each sensor, and to develop dedicated gateways for different types of sensors. Major issues arise also in operation, such as data loss due to communication failure, and the need for security measures.
P3EG® is an edge computing framework developed to solve such issues. By centrally handling all the processes from acquiring data from sensors, smoothing and converting it, to transmitting the data to servers, buffering, and resending, it eliminates the need to develop separate gateways. A flexible IoT environment can be configured making use of existing server resources, saving on initial costs and speeding up deployment. Several pre-launch deployments of P3EG® have already taken place in Japan and overseas, including in plants and for infrastructure monitoring. Looking ahead to adoption in smart factories, for infrastructure inspection, in smart cities and other fields, NCJ is aiming for sales of 50 service contracts by 2028.

Features of P3EG®

  1. Flexible connectivity supporting a variety of sensors and servers
P3EG® supports a wide range of sensors, including not only IP devices but also non-IP devices such as those using serial communication. The data collected by sensors is automatically converted to the data format (JSON, etc.) required by the server and transmitted. Two-way communication via REST API* is also supported, making it possible for a server to send instructions to sensors for data transmission or other operations. A seamless IoT environment can therefore be configured, integrating sensors with different protocols or formats.
*REST API: A call protocol (API) for making use of Web services from outside.

  2. High data reliability achieved through the “Data SLA®”
In case of communication trouble or server outage, P3EG®︎ caches data and automatically resends it after recovery, preventing data loss. Moreover, the “Data SLA®︎” (Service Level Agreement) (patent pending) function is provided that performs log management and visualization of data delivery rate and communication history, guaranteeing overall system integrity. In verification testing, a data delivery rate of 99% was achieved.

  3. Security hardening and efficient operations management
P3EG®︎ functions as a proxy between IoT sensors and the Internet, preventing direct cyberattacks on sensors. In addition, the integrated management tool “P3EG Conductor” provides centralized supervision of multiple P3EG®︎, enabling log analysis and OTA (Over the Air=wireless) updating of firmware. Since P3EG Conductor runs on existing Linux hardware or AI computers, there is no need to develop dedicated hardware, saving deployment cost and greatly alleviating the operational burden.
